Welcome to our website.
This website will be replaced at some future point with something easier for the committee to change and update. In the meantime please take time to look at a small selection of our photographs of Glynneath, Cwmgwrach and the surrounding areas in the photo gallery. Also take a look at our meetings programme for 2016/17 on the left hand side of this page. You can also follow us on Facebook.
The longstanding name of our Society has been changed from Glynneath & District Historical Society to Glynneath & Cwmgwrach Historical Society. This was done to reflect that our work emcompasses Cwmgwrach as well as Glynneath and that we have members from both communities.
Please have a look at the Events & Projects page for information about the Glynneath Cwmgwrach Heritage Trail where it is now possible to download the Heritage Trail leaflet to your computer and print this off free of charge.
Come and join us!
Our 2016/17 season begins on Wednesday 7th September and the meetings programme can be found to the left of this page.
All meetings take place at the Fane Arts Centre within Glynneath Training Centre, Oddfellows Street, Glynneath SA11 5DB.
Meetings start at 7.00pm and are held on the first Wednesday of each month (from September to May).
The venue for meetings has modern facilities that are fully accessible to people with disabilities. Car parking is available close by.
Membership of the Society costs £7.00 annually and new members will be warmly welcomed. The Society urgently needs new members to ensure it continues to survive in the forseeable future.

Do you have old photographs, slides or postcards of the Glynneath & Cwmgwrach areas? Please help us.
If you have old photographs of Glynneath, Cwmgwrach or the surrounding areas please consider loaning them to our Society. We will arrange to scan the images and store copies in our digital archive. This will ensure that important old images of our locality are not lost but safeguarded for future generations. All too often people pass away and old photographs are thrown out but we have a use for them. Please help our Society to preserve our local heritage.
